Fee fi fo fum, digging in the garden is great fun!
Our vegetable garden has expanded with the addition of a ‘bean teepee’. It turned out to be quite a mathematical project as we worked out how to create a circle shape in the ground by measuring the diameter and radius of the circle with a peg and a length of string. Then the physical work began as we dug out the grass to make a garden bed for the bean seeds, and arranged the bamboo poles to act as a frame for the teepee. This structure has added a whole new dimension to the landscape of our outdoor area and once fully grown will provide the children with a secluded, quiet, natural space to play. We may even be able to harvest beans from the teepee too!
I can’t wait to see the end result. I really like the idea of creating natural play spaces for children…. it looks so inviting and takes me back to my childhood. The kindergarten ‘kitchen garden’ is looking good and I am sure that we will soon have produce to share in our kindergarten farmers market as well as use in cooking experiences.
