We hope that you and your family are enjoying the July holiday break and we look forward to seeing you soon! The teaching team here at Kindergarten ventured to the far north this weekend. We visited the famous Hundertwasser toilets at Kawakawa, Waitangi where the Treaty was signed and an Early Childhood Centre in Kerikeri – Nuture by Nature. We marveled at the scale of Ngatokimatawhaorua, one of the world’s largest carved war canoes (waka taua).
We have lots to share with you about our experiences…
When I got at home and looked through the snapshots, this by far was my favourite picture. While we were in the meeting house at Waitangi I noticed what appeared to be a grandmother and her grandson. She was watching him as he was drawing some of the carvings… What a beautiful and empowering place to sketch and make connections with the history of Aotearoa New Zealand. …(Fran)
The far north is a great place to visit, maybe you will have the opportunity to visit with your family soon.
