Painting and colour mixing helps to support children’s personal, social and emotional development by providing opportunities for children to be curious, develop new skills and sometimes make choices about being involved for long periods of time. Today some of the Kowhai children explored colour mixing.
Painting and colour mixing are also contexts in which children are able to expand their knowledge and understanding of the world by exploring paint, techniques, brushes and other tools.
There is nothing quite like mixing colour to see what shades unfold as different paint is added and mixed. It is even better when you become totally connected to the moment by dipping your hands into the jars of paint!
“Past or present, art in all it’s forms provides new ways of seeing and experiencing colour.” Tricia Guild.
